ISBN (International Standard Book Number)
- An ISBN (International Standard Book Number) is a 10 or 13 digit unique number for each book.
- The ISBN can be found usually on the cover near the bar code.
- The ISBN can be found inside the book usually on or near the page with the publishing and copyright information.
- The book will list the ISBN with dashes, you can enter the ISBN with or without the dashes.
Browse as a Guest
- Click on Browse / Ask A Question in the blue Menu Bar.
- Enter your ISBN number found on your book, usually near the bar code on the back of the book or the jacket cover.
- If you want to specifically see a Chapter or Chapter and Page fill in these two fields, otherwise leave blank to review all questions currently asked about the whole book.
- Click on Go
- If your book has questions you will see them displayed in Brief view.
- To see the whole question click the radio button next to Full.
- To see an individual question and any answers it may have click on the question.
- If your book has no questions you will see the book title and ISBN number and a message that there are no questions for your book yet.
- From here you can look for another book using the "Find New Book" section, the middle box at the top of this page.
Register
To Register click here
- Fill in all Required Fields
- Select your Type of Registration (you can be both)
- Students (asker) - If you would like to ask questions about a book we consider you a student, even if you are not currently in "school".
- Check the next box if you wish to receive and email if someone answers a question you have asked.
- Select your Grade Level, this is the grade you are currently in or the last grade you completed. (This will help the person answering your questions provide a grade appropriate answer.)
- Instructor/Professional (answerer) - If you would like to answer questions about a book we consider you a Instructor or Professional with enough skill to provide a knowledgeable answer on the subject being asked about. (This would apply even if you are still a student yourself answering questions you are knowledgeable about.)
- Enter your current job title or Grade Level. This will be displayed so that the asker can judge your knowledge of the subject.
- Enter the Organization that you work for or the school you attend, again to provide the asker a way to measure your knowledge of the subject.
- Choose your Years in Profession from the drop down list. Same as above to measure your knowledge of the subject matter. This should be the years in the profession of the title you currently hold.
- Students (asker) - If you would like to ask questions about a book we consider you a student, even if you are not currently in "school".
- Enter the words from the Captcha in the text box provided.
- These words are CasE SenSiTivE.
- The two words need to be separated by one space.
- To get a new set of words click on the top small red box with the double red arrows (if hovered over it says "get a new challenge").
- The second small red box with the speaker in it will give you an audio challenge.
- Click the Submit button.
- An e-mail will be sent to the address you provided in step one.
- Click on the link in this email to verify your registration.
- Log in
Log In
- Top Right of the top Title Bar
- Enter your email address you provided during registration
- Enter the password that you chose during your registration on the explain my book website.
- Click the Log-In Button
Forgot your password?
- Click the Forgot Login link next to the Log-In Button.
- Enter the email address you provided when you registered on the explain my book website.
- Enter the second question for verification.
- You must enter the captcha information again.
- Click the Submit button.
- Check your email account for your forgotten information.
Ask a Question
- You must be logged in.
- Click on Browse / Ask A Question from the menu bar
- If you have created a "my book list" a drop down will appear with those titles in it for easy access
- Choose a book from your drop down or enter an ISBN number of a new book.
- Review the questions already asked to see if your question has been answered already.
- If your question has not been asked click the "ask a new question" button under the "find new book" box near the top of the page to jump to the Ask a Question section at the bottom of the page.
- Once you have entered your question click the "ask" button under the form.
- You now have one more chance to review your question, you need to click "Edit" to change your question or "Submit" to post it to the website.
- To return to all questions for the book click on the book title above your newly asked question or click on the "Go" button in the Current Book box at the top left of the page.
Replies
- When viewing a posting (question or response) that you have an answer for or response to, click on the "Reply" button within that box.
- Type your reply in the provided box.
- Click the "Post" button.
- You now have one more chance to review your reply, you need to click "Edit" to change your reply or "Submit" to post it to the website.

Report Abuse
- If you feel a posting is inappropriate or not applicable to the book it is listed under for whatever reason you may click the "Report Abuse" button within that postings box.
- If a posting has already been reported the "Report Abuse" button will be inactive. We will review it as soon as possible.
- NOTE: Falsely reporting abuse could get you banned from the site. Please make sure you have a good reason for reporting the posting as abuse.
